Architectural design residential area

Haagwijk is a centuries-old part of Landgoed Duivenvoorde in Voorschoten. Project developer Visade was planning to realise detached houses and wanted a number of architectural images for this purpose. They placed a non-committal call for this with a number of agencies.

MIXD created a concept for a house between two gardens: a lively formal garden around the house and in the centre an introspective Zen garden with a dead tree. The house itself manifests itself as a collection of sculptures on the border of the two different gardens. It is emphatically not a ready-made 'mainstream' design, but represents a specific attitude towards housing and its possibilities at this location.
